Lisa Schultz is a Nationally Certified Coach with Equine Canada as a Competition Coach, NCCP Certified Level 1 and is currently pursuing her coaching to become a specialist in her discipline.

Lisa started through Pony Club and has achieved her “A” Level, passing Horsemanship, Stable Management and Riding Phase’s all on the first attempt which few have achieved.

Lisa started out training un-started or problem horses throughout her high school years, then she began her teaching career with riders at The Pacific Riding for Developing Abilities in 2005. There she spent a lot of time working with children and adults of different abilities with wonderful horses and ponies and big smiles on the riders. It was then Lisa realized how much she loved teaching and sharing her knowledge. Starting her own business and being a Level 1 Competition Coach was a natural progression and she is now busy competing and traveling all over BC and the USA.

Lisa’s younger horse JayDee is competing at the International Level in 3 Day Eventing and her other lovely mount Glastonbury is currently successful in Dressage. She has also acquired a few rescue horses and still has her very first show horse that enjoys the life of retirement.
Lisa's students enjoy success in all show rings but they are are especially attracted to the fun and welcoming atmosphere and the variety of the Eventing discipline.
Lisa encourages her students to enjoy Dressage and Hunter/Jumper shows alike. Lisa also loves to encourage Pony Club members to apply to compete in National Shows. Lisa’s favorite National Competition where she won ‘Dressage Champion’ was in Nova Scotia on two unknown mounts that were very different. She also placed very well in Ottawa at National Rally (Eventing) in all phases, plus winning individual awards. Lisa received a warmblood/draft cross that was supplied by a Canadian Olympian. These competitions were against other PC members that were selected to represent their Province as well. Lisa has been honored to represent our region and has brought back trophies countless times including PC National Medal Finals riding an unknown horse and won Champion as well!

The National shows from Pony Club have helped her practice and compete on many different horses and gain valuable experience. Late summer of 2014, Lisa was selected by Horse Council BC to participate on the senior team for the Canadian Inter-provincial Equestrian Championships which was a great experience with Chef D’equipe Ali Buchanan and Team-Coach Rochelle Kilberg. Lisa started the competition with a nice but challenging horse- receiving 9th the first day, then a 3rd and 2nd improving over the weekend, she ended up with the Individual GOLD MEDAL and Team Silver! These are just some of the highlights in Lisa’s career that she wants to encourage her students to strive for as well.

With Lisa’s successful Dressage horse, she branched into the H/J world and competed in the prestigious CET Medals in 2011. They were thrilled to win their first Mini Medal competition after all phases and were invited to the BCHJA Medal Finale at the year end show. Glastonbury always steps up to the plate doing his best, they enjoyed success in the medals and won the 1.15m jumper class at the same show. Currently this horse has branched into competing at the EC Gold Level Dressage competitions where he also won Champion, for every show he was evetered in for 2014 and 2015. There isn’t much this horse hasn’t won, CPC Medal Nationals in the BCLM region as well. A very versatile horse that even squeezed in being a fantastic vaulting horse the end of last summer. Lisa believes every horse should be able to do several disciplines to keep them well rounded and enjoying their work.

Currently Lisa spends her time teaching, riding, competing and traveling across Canada to test Pony Club as a National Examiner, and also judges at local dressage, hunter and hack shows. In addition, she is also an examiner for Equine Canada Rider Levels and does clinics for riding enthusiasts to become instructors themselves or to gain high school credits.
